Growing up! I loved riding the bus. The old buses were big! Bulky! Inside hard cushioned seats, individual lights, at that time? No AC! You had to open a window for the air to come in.
In the winter! Buses were a target for kids throwing snowballs at it. In later years! Because of teenagers using knives and markers. The transit company had to go for “hard seating”. It did nothing about the writings that were mostly on the backs of rear seats.
In my early days! The windows were sliding up & down ones. Later on. They were sideways. Most of the windows were jammed to open.
The color of them were. Yellow on the top Brown on the side. Then all blue. In 1966!
They came out with “AC!” & luxury seating, high back seats. Those were mostly for special trips and for people who lived in the suburbs. “RIP OFF!”
TODAY! NOTHING HAS REALLY CHANGED. EXCEPT THE FARES! AND THE PEOPLE WHO RIDE IT!
