Who? Remembers Sears?
I mean! the original sears?
When I was a kid. I remember going to Sears in Cleveland, Ohio USA. Both Eastside & Westside locations in the inner city. YES! In the inner city! Before they moved to the suburbs.
It was a time when? Most of the products/items were (as I understand it to be!) overruns of National manufacturers and Sears bought them and put their name (on some of them) on it.
Sears was back then. What Walmart is today. A one stop, one shop store. Some exceptions. No drug/pharmacy department, no gas station/auto repair shop (as I recall).
Then somewhere between the 70’s & the 80’s! Sears went by way of: “if you can’t beat ’em!” “join ’em!”. In other words! Sears “sold out!”.
And now we are seeing an agonizing demise of an American institution. Changes in consumer tastes, convenience, styles, so on.
Not to mention! “GREED!”
K-mart is no better!
